“A dream, an idea, a wishful plan, but hope, then fear, finally faith”
This path illustrates the 3 year journey of a little school, in a dangerous zone, when Faith prevails.

Last spring we had the wonderful opportunity of providing a medical clinic for over 200 patients in this location. Rarely do outside organizations come in to this dangerous zone, yet the community embraced our team and appreciated our desire to serve them.
A few weeks ago during our October visit, the US Embassy and most of our Haitian guides said no Americans should enter Cite Soleil today. Our team discussed, the children and teachers were waiting. We faithfully listened to a Higher messenger and went to the school.
We had a wonderful and safe visit. The team provided encouragement and hope as this new school year began. We also brought new uniforms, backpacks and supplies. One young child said “I already have a uniform” what maturity and respect for a community considered in chaos. Our team member responded “now you have two”.
This has been a challenging summer for the community. We unfortunately visited with 3 women who had multiple gunshot wounds received over the past couple months. “I believe I can speak for the whole team when I say, we were blessed to visit that day.”

While visiting Haiti, the natural questions often arise, what works, what creates sustainable change. I recently read some statistics which state…

*A girl with basic education is three times less likely to contract HIV
*Children born to educated mothers are two times more likely to survive past the age of 5
*A girl with 7 years of education will marry 4 years later and have 2.2 fewer children
*Knowledge and skills learned will be shared with parents and community

Finally, thank you for following this story as Windy’s dream unfolds for his neighborhood.

A thought…”If your plan is for 1 year, plant rice”
“If your plan is for 10 years, plant a tree”
“If your plan is for 100 years, educate children….especially girls”
